Davy Crockett, a celebrated hero, pioneer,
and statesman, was born in Limestone, Tennessee during the 18th
Century. During the early years of his life, Davy would eagerly
listen to stories told to him by pioneers traveling through
the frontier. These stories centered on the brave and treacherous
lives of frontier men and women and evolved into Crockett's
own adventures and tales for which he became legendary. Davy
Crockett's motto was, "Be always sure you are right, then
go ahead."
According to Crockett's own words, "His
early years were filled with adventure, hardship and traveling".
Crockett learned the majority of his skill as a hunter, frontiersman
and trapper during his time exploring the towns and villages
throughout Tennessee. He was admired for being a strong, hard,
and heroic frontiersman.
Renowned throughout the territory, Davy Crockett
was one of the best marksmen of his time. There was nothing
Davy Crockett enjoyed more than a good bear hunt. He prepared
each hunt adorning his famed coonskin cap and grabbing his hunting
knife and beloved musket "Old Betsy". He was known
as one of the first mighty hunters in the Southwestern territory
and would become known as the Spirit of the American Frontier.
Davy Crockett is a timeless symbol of the American
dream. From humble beginnings, Crockett set out on his own while
still a young teenager. He sought out his own education in the
frontier and advanced himself to highest levels of American
government and heroism that transcends through the decades.
His tombstone reads: "Davy Crockett, Pioneer, Patriot,
Soldier, Trapper, Explorer, State Legislator, and Congressman,
Martyred at The Alamo 1786-1836."
